LUMINOUS PAINTINGS
I feel extremely fortunate to have been born in a place (Casablanca, Morocco), that many people think as unique, exotic and even mysterious. I began drawing and painting at a very young age. Exposure to that culture has a definite impact on me, both as a person and as an artist
When I was 12, we moved to Paris, France, where I went to school. Art had always been and continued to be a major component of life. With my family, I spent an enormous amount of time in galleries and museums. In general, we soaked the Parisian art scene at every opportunity. Subsequently I moved to Washington D.C. that led to marriage, motherhood and an extremely demanding career at The World Bank. Consequently I was forced to put my drawing and painting skills on a back burner but my passion for art did not wane.
Since retiring and moving to Sarasota in 2002, my primary focus has been to devote once again to the art.
My introduction to painting came while enrolled to the Ringling School of Art and Design and was further developed through taking multiple classes and workshops in the area and throughout Florida
I have entered my paintings in multiple shows and was fortunate to be accepted in several juried art shows in the Sarasota/Manatee area. I won several awards both in watercolor and in oil.
My paintings reflect my unique style which I call “luminous” and has focused on the interplay of light and shadows.
