Bio
BA with minor in Fine Arts / University of Windsor / Windsor, Ontario
B Ed / University of Windsor / Windsor, Ontario
Retired from the Canadian Federal Government after 35 years of service: Career divided between the Ministries of Employment, Immigration and Justice
From a very early age, I loved to draw. Coming from a family with six children, quiet places were not easy to find, and many of my first masterpieces were altered with various colours of crayon, etc. by other little hands that wished to express themselves as well. It wasn’t until I attended university that I was finally able to study Fine Art and afford my first piece of real canvas. In my third year of studies I had a showing of my works at the University of Windsor.
After graduation, I moved to Ottawa and began my career as a federal public servant. My main outlet for my creativity at that time was limited to making birthday cakes that mimicked the personality of the recipient, from snowmen to Dolly Parton to Miss Piggy and everything in between.
Also at that time, I became very interested in photography. Being a mother and a full-time worker, I had little time to take any formal training in this area. My hobby became more of a relaxation technique than an ultimate career goal. Since that time I have been the family portrait taker and memory preserver, in addition to saving precious moments with friends on film.
My husband and I enjoy travelling and we have turned many of the photos that we have taken into our own personal coffee table books. We also take great pleasure in doing slideshows and showing them to friends and relatives. These have inspired many to go and experience these faraway places on their own.
My photography has been featured in magazines, including several times in “Life in the Park” here. For the past several years I have become known as the resident photographer of Virginia Water and the Canadian Golf Tournament in University Park.
This is the eighth year that I have participated in Art in the Park at University Park. The profits from the sale of my photo-cards go to charity.
